The aim of the paper is to discuss a new subject called personal knowledge management and to compare it with the better-known concept information literacy.
The paper concludes that compared with the definitions of information literacy personal knowledge management
highlights two elements. Firstly, it emphasizes that the individual learns how to structure the information.
Secondly, it underlines the influences of the communication for the identification of information. We
can find track of both elements in the definitions of information literacy, but often in an implicit way. The course of personal knowledge management may be of interest for many libraries today. Generally, libraries
have been teaching their users in information seeking. Without
